FREEDOM 'OF CARE: ONE YEAR AFTER ELUANA

Eluana On February 9, 2009, after 17 years without a conscience in a bed, finally became free. I'd liberated from social to an exemplary father and the jolt of a democratic part of the country that did not tolerate the unlawful invasion of the State imposing unwanted treatment on a person to prolong his agony.
The debate on living wills was then swept away and we arrived in the Senate for approval of a law against freedom of choice, trampling on the principle of individual self.
Today I am writing to reiterate, for a year by the appeal site www.appellotestamentobiologico.it who has seen the signatories, along with personalities from the world of law, culture, entertainment, sport (by Gustavo Zagrebelsky to Marcello Lippi, by Eugenio Scalfari to Luciana Littizzetto): let us not given the green light to a law against freedom of choice.
The law passed by the Senate right last March is now by the Chamber of Deputies will soon make the final. It is a rule against individual freedom in the choice therapies. In fact imposes on us the obligation of all medical treatments such as artificial nutrition and hydration, even if we oppose them, even if they only serve to prolong an irreversible agony.
The road ahead is an open and free from ideological to a law that all share. The Speaker Gianfranco Fini has shown openings to that effect, but the government seems to want to use their force to impose an ideological vote on living wills, against scientific evidence and individual freedom.
My commitment on these issues continues, stronger than before.
So I ask you, free men and women and laity, to exercise your rights of citizens, promoting action of pressure on the Chamber of Deputies.
